Nettie Sumner's exhibition Chronicles: Silent Conversations connects local and individual narratives across both time and landscape using a range of materials often intermixed into a single piece.

The artist employs a range of techniques which explore the revival of traditional craft using current methodologies within contemporary contexts. 

Sumner’s work successfully retains an historical sense of identity whilst sitting within the realm of contemporary art.

BIO

Nettie Sumner is a contemporary artist and sculptor whose collections harness traditional craft and methodologies to evoke the natural environment.

Her pieces form a curated and extraordinary collection of installations and sculptures and she employs various techniques including hand knitted copper wire and silver to create experimental and captivating finishes.

Each of her creations combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative design to immerse viewers in an enchanting world of texture, light and form.

Sumner is based in Sydney and her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions and group shows since successfully completing an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts in 2019.
