Come along and join this insightful talk about the power of working together as community in the wake of the 2022 floods. Artist Karla Dickens will talk with Bundjalung woman Ella Bancroft about their experiences supporting community during this major flooding event.
As we are facing more potential climate disasters, there is a dire need to work together in collective action – providing assistance and care for our neighbours and the most vulnerable in our community.
Karla Dickens is a nationally recognised artist of Wiradjuri, Irish and German heritage. Dickens uses her multidisciplinary practice to bring dark humour to her unflinching interrogation of subjects such as race, gender and injustice. Through her mastery and utilisation of 'found-objects', overlooked or discarded objects are given new contexts that interrogate Australian culture, contest histories and agitate for change.
Ella Bancroft is a proud Bundjalung woman. She is a Indigenous born artist, published author, mentor, consultant and founder/CEO of The Returning Corporation. Ella is an experienced speaker and facilitator advocating for the environment, social justice and system change.
